Purpose of this section:Toprovideanoverviewofthemanagementandmonitoring
capabilitiesofferedinRASM.
Why is this important?:Understandingthemanagementandmonitoringtoolsavailablein
RASMcanhelpyoutoquicklyidentifyandcorrectproblemsinyourwirelessnetwork,aswellas
toprovideyouwiththestatisticsandreportinginformationyouneedtooptimizeyournetwork.
Thissectiontalksaboutthefollowingmanagementandmonitoringfeatures:

Network Status
RASMprovidessummarystatusondevicesinthenetworkatthemobilitydomain,switchor
accesspointlevel.Viewthesummarystatusastheinitialstepinmonitoring.Summarystatus
displaystheoperationalstatusofRoamAboutswitches,accesspoints,andtheirradios(whether
theyareupordown).
Inaddition,RASM
collectsnetworkstatisticsfordevices,includingsystem‐leveleventsand
statisticsforthewirednetwork.
TheAlertspanelinthebottom,leftpanelinRASMdisplaystop‐levelstatusinformation.The
Alertspanelprovidesyouwithsummaryerrorandwarninginformationforthefollowingareas:
• Config—indicatesnetworkplanconfigurationissues
•Localchanges—indicates
changesinRASMthatcanbe deployedtothenetwork
•Networkchanges—indicatesconfigurationchangesinthenetwork
• Alarms—showsthenumberandseverityofalarmsdetectedinthenetwork
RF Monitoring
RFmonitoringprovidesyouwithcurrentandhistoricalinformationaboutyourradiohealthand
activity.
StatisticscollectedfortheRFenvironmentprovidesdataonaper‐channelbasis.Youcanview
noiselevels,cyclicredundancycheck(CRC)andPHYerrors,packetretransmissionsandpercent
utilization.
DatacollectedfortheRFneighborhood
displaystheneighboringradios.Thisinformationcanbe
viewedasalistofradiosheardbyaparticularradio,aswellasalistofradioswhocanheara
particularradio.
Youalsocandisplaytrendinginformationonaper‐radiobasis.Trendingcollectsradiostatistics
andchartsthemon
atimebasis.Forexample,youcoulddisplayaveragethroughputratesforthe
