Define Site Information
Youdefineyoursitewithinformationaboutyourcampus,buildings,andfloors.Inaddition,you
describetheattenuationcharacteristicsofthelocationandspecifythetrafficengineeringneeds
(bandwidthandreliability)oftheusers.
Create a Network Plan
Tocreateanetworkplan:
1. ConnecttoahostrunningRASMServices.WhenyoustartRASM,theRASMmainwindow
andtheRASMServicesConnectiondialogboxappear.
2. IntheRASMServicesConnectiondialogbox,entertheIPaddressofahostrunningRASM
Services,optionallyenterausernameandpassword,
andclickNext.
IftheRASMServiceisinstalledonthesamemachineastheoneyouareusingtorunRASM,
enter127.0.0.1astheIPaddress.ThisisastandardIPloopbackaddress.
3. AfteraconnectionisestablishedtothespecifiedRASMServiceshost,selectServices>Plan
Management.TheRASMServicesPlanManagementpageisdisplayedinabrowserwindow.
appears.
4. Intheleft‐handcolumnofthepage,clickNewPlan.TheNewPlanpageisdisplayed.
Note: RASM commits your work into the network plan only when you click Finish, not when you
click Next. Changes are not persistently saved until you save the network plan.
