RASMgeneratesalarmswhenattemptsatDenialofServiceattacksaredetectedonthenetwork.
SNMPnotificationsmustbeenabledontheRoamAboutSwitchesinorderforalarmstoappearin
RASM.
ToviewDoSalarms:
1. ToviewDoSalarmsinchartformat,clickthecharticonatthebottomleftcorner
oftheDoS
AlarmssectionoftheRASMscreen.
2. Toviewalarmsintableformat,clickthetableiconatthebottomleftcorneroftheDoSAlarms
sectionoftheRASMscreen.
Inthetableviewthatdisplays,hypertextnumberslinktofilteredliststhatcontainonlythe
alarmsfor
thatrowandcolumnthatcontainthehypertext.
3. ToviewatableofallalarmsinRASM,clickDetailsatthebottomoftheDoSAlarmssectionof
theRASMscreen.Performingthisactionproducesthesameeffectasclickingtheshowtable
icon.
Store Faults and Retrieve Fault History
RASMstoresfaultinformationontheserverdatabaseandallowsmultipleclientstoaccessthe
data.Witheachfaultstoredinthedatabase,correlatedtrapsandeventsarealsostored.Datais
periodicallypurgedtokeepthedatabasetoamanageablesize.Purgingisbasedoncriteriasuchas
thenumber
ofactivefaults(events)orthenumberofdaysforwhichdatashouldbepreserved.
Inadditiontoactivefaultinformation,thedatabasealsoholdshistoricfaultinformation.Youcan
viewthishistoricinformationwhennecessary.However,theinformationisavailableforviewing
inreportsonly.Consequently,youcannotperformany
actiononhistoricinformation.
Retrieving Fault History
Toretrievefaulthistory:
1. ClickHistoryintheTaskpanelunderAlarms.
2. RASMdisplaystheAlarmHistorydi alogbox.Youcansortthehistoryresultsbyanyofthe
followingcolumnheadings:
• Date
• Severity
• Category
•Description
•Object
•State
3. Clickonarowtoviewthedetailsofaspecificalarminthetabularview.
